WORST experience and dryer caught on fire

Horrible experience. I bought a lemon. One month after purchase is caught on fire and burned up, shorted out, etc. GE sent out two different companies to try and fix it. Each time they got the same result. The repair companies contacted TAG a reported everything. They also said that they refuse to work on the dryer anymore, due to safety. I filled two safety complaints, etc.. Six months later, I'm still without a dryer and GE is giving me the run around on replacing my dryer. This has been the worst experience of my life. I feel like I'm on candid camera and getting punked. GE has the WORST Customer Relations team and policies.

Poor Quality - Garbage Product

Dryer was purchased in February 2026 and it lasted 6 months. Trying to use the warranty is worse than dealing with the secretary of state in Michigan. I would expect a dryer to last a few years before having any issues. Time to find a new appliance brand that makes a reliable product because GE is now GARBAGE!!!

Love this Simple No-Frills Dryer

Our new GE gas dryer was installed today. We have dried three loads already. Everything came out dry and not wrinkled, on the "medium" heat setting. I like this "no-frills" type of dryer with only four dry cycles and three temperature selections, and the start button. I see that others complained about the end-of-cycle buzzer, but we never hear it because the dryer is where it should be -- in the basement. Thanks GE, love it!

I just got my dishwasher in June and I am already have trouble with it. I keep getting an Error 20. I called the extra insurance I purchased which turned out to be a waste of money. I was told to do somethings on my own instead of sending out a tech because according to them there was nothing broken that I couldn't fix myself. Had I know this was going to be a problem i would have saved my money. I did everything the person from the insurance company told me to do and I still have the same issue. I am still debating if I should call the insurance again if I am going to be told to something myself. I am still using the dishwasher but I have to keep an eye on it because I still get the Error 20 and I have to restart it so it can finish the cycle.

Very frustrated with my new dryer, didn't even have it a month and it doesn't heat up, so it won't dry the clothing. Had to call a repairman, that took a week and then a part has to be ordered that is still not hear. Hopefully it isn't a lemon.

The buzzer is way too loud and annoying, is there a way to disable or control volume..? There is no light inside the drum, I didn™€™t think this was a big deal but a light makes a difference. I would rather the door open down and not from the left. My previous dryer was a Kenmore that I had for 14 years, if I was able to purchase another Kenmore I would have. This dryer is satisfactory.

GE needs to pull this dryer off the market. I've had it less than a year and have had multiple service calls. It takes forever to dry. The clothes smell burnt when they come out. I am buying a new dryer because I hate this one so much.

I bought this brand new on August 12th 2025. It went out 2 days ago and I can™€™t get anyone on the phone to come do a service call. I tried contacting Bodewell both online and on the phone with no results. I™€™m stuck with a $700 gas dryer that is under warranty but I can™€™t get any support for it. I™€™d steer clear of GE Appliances.

Buyer Beware of GE gas dryers

I purchased the GE gas dryer on 10/14/25 at Lowes. The dryer stopped working on 4/2/26, 6 months after the purchase. I tried to use the GE year warranty repair service. Their earliest appointment was for 4/13/26. Super inconvenient and I had to use another repair service to get this dryer working again. The repair included the replacement of the timer, the button on the front of the machine and the knob to control the on/off function. So, $360.00 out of pocket later. I have a working GE gas Dryer.

Doors open when you put a heavy load granting its 7.5 cu.ft and have to call service because the face where the door is attached comes off, I wish I cn return this now since I bought insurance from Allstate and yet even the srne I™€™m not satisfied, I™€™m surprise I gave one star for this where suppose to be nine. Thinking you bought a new item hoping there™€™s no problem but I™€™ definitely wrong.

Our 4 month old dryer has needed 2 repairs since it was installed. The last repair took 2 weeks to get it fixed. We feel this is inexcusable considering the age of the dryer and it is only used for 2 people as our children are grown and out of the house. I feel we have purchased a lemon.

Interior light should be standard. It used to be. We were surprised to find out it doesn™€™t have one and didn™€™t want to deal with returning it just for that. It™€™s also a little louder than expected. Otherwise it works great and can handle a large load.

The dryer does indeed do what its intended - dry the clothes. That being said, it does the absolute minimum. Cost saving measures like removing the interior light - ridiculous. I don't typically go to GE for bargain basement models - I thought they were better than that.

The buzzer is EXTREMELY loud and annoying. It is not adjustable on my model but should be on all models. The tumbling also seems more noisy than on my older dryer. It dries well and roomy enough.
